Catching up

December 2015

Competition

We took 30 gymnasts to the Liberty Competition on 13th December and returned with 41 medals.
We were most successful on Floor where we collected medals in all four rounds, a total of 17 medals.
Charlotte Moore was our most successful gymnast gaining 3 golds.
Rebecca Jeffery in her first competition away from Aspire gained 3 medals,  2 golds and a silver.
Daisy Crane gained 2 silvers and a bronze.
It is always a lovely Christmas competition and we will expect to be there again in 2016.

New equipment

We took delivery of one new springboard, bought through fundraising, we expect a softer version to be delivered in January. They cost £694.80.
Thank you for your help in raising funds

Christmas Party

This year we did not organise a disco but we had a party instead. To get the Christmas celebrations started, Sarah Crane led all of us in party games on 18th December. We dressed in our Christmas jumpers and through the sale of drinks and snacks  we raised £54.70 which was sent to the Text Santa Appeal. We were grateful to Sandra, at Tesco in Hook, who helped us with refreshments and goodies for all the children to take home.
Everyone had a lovely time and we would like to do it again in 2016 if we can persuade Sarah.

2016

 Trainee Coaches

Two young people have joined us as a trainee coaches. Grace is an ex-gymnast and helps on Fridays. Jade is an ice skater and helps on Saturdays. Grace was 14 in January and Jade will be 14 in February, as will Isobel who has been with us a while. Young Leaders cannot gain their first BG qualification until they are 14 years old. They will all attend a British Gymnastics Core Proficiency Course on 28th February, which is Jade's birthday, so that's as soon as Jade could do it. They will all do very well.

Nine of the newly formed Floor & Vault  squad travelled with Debbie & Nigel to Basingstoke on 24/01/16. For Jenna, Beth & Megan it was their first time in a  squad competition. They all did very well. Their next competition is in Abingdon in March.
