British Gymnastics has just informed Aspire Gymnastics at Frogmore that it have been awarded GymMark status and Sport England's Clubmark status.  This is a wonderful achievement for a club barely 2 years old! There will be a plaque presented to be displayed at the Centre. The award is valid for three years, in between w e will need to complete annual self-assessments. We will be displaying the two logos on our stationery. The parents and coaches who accepted positions on the committee and carried out various tasks have been invaluable in supporting the club in gaining this recognition.  Thank you to the parents and coaches who have attended training and gained qualifications necessary for the club to complete the modules.  Thank you to Mike Dear, at the Frogmore Leisure Centre, for his help in establishing the club.  The club will need to hold an AGM in the near future which we hope will be well supported by the members. Aspire Gymnastics is officially recognised as ...

Well done Paige

Paige has been coaching as a volunteer since the club began two years ago. She has just passed British Gymnastics Level one General Gymnastics coaching award. CONGRATULATIONS PAIGE. Jo said it was lovely being her Mentor because she really understand gymnastics. She has been doing it since she was 6 and still enjoys taking part. The Centre has agreed to pay her now she is qualified, we are very pleased for her.

Hampshire Under 8's Conditioning League Round 3

The team managed to score as many points in Round 3 as last year's team scored in Round 5 so they are making good progress. Keira and Mia tried to kick over from the bridge, the first time they have put it into a competition, but it needs a bit more work to score some points. The team still failed to score on leg lifts so they need to try and work with very straight legs! The top 5 scorers after Round 3 are Mia, Molly, Gemma, Sophie and Megan they will be hoping to stay there after Round 4 on 16th June  and then to be selected for the Final round on 14th July.

Hampshire Under 8's Conditioning League Round 2

Image
Mia, Sophie, April, Amy, Megan and Keira did their best on Saturday 28th April at Havant, in the second leg of the Conditioning League but the break the club takes over the school holidays seemed to show. We may have to consider continuing squad training through the school holidays next year.  Megan, her first turn in the team, scored 8 points on rebound that's equal to 31 bounces over 30 cms in 30 secs very good. Sophie and Mia added over 1 point to their Bench routines, that's a good improvement. Amy improved her standing high jump from 18 to 25 cms, well done. At last the team have scored something on reverse leg lifts thanks to Keira and April. Last year we did not score anything over the 5 rounds! We need to  concentrate on front leg lifts because we still have a nil score for those. We know the other teams train up to 20 hours a week and we may not get the best scores but all gymnasts need to their very best so they can see themselves improving. All the squad will need t...

Good News

Thank you everyone, who, during February put green tokens in our box at Waitrose, they amounted to £210.00   Today we collected a cheque for £210 from Waitrose. Many thanks for all the green tokens!   Jo wants the club to buy custom made mats for the Beam and Bars. They will cost about £3000.00. The mats are firmer and as well as providing a safe landing area for the gymnasts  will be better for the coaches to stand on to support the gymnasts and free the "crash mats" for other areas of the gym.  If you have any ideas for more fundraising, or your company would be willing to make a donation let Gil know on  aspiregymnastics @gmail.com  or speak to one of the coaches.
