Gymnasts of the month - February

Image
Because of their outstanding forbearance at the Grades on March 1st the gymnasts of the month are all from Squad. Molly, in the middle, Lara, left and Amelia, right For exemplary team spirit. They always represent the club in the best possible way. They do their best, support and encourage other team members and put everyone else before themselves. They are an excellent example of the spirit and ethos we want at Aspire. They make a magnificent contribution to creating a close, friendly and supportive club.

Newest member of the coaching team

Welcome to Izzy Isabella has joined the coaching team as a Young Leader volunteer. She will be helping at the Saturday Rec and Froglets classes.  She cannot attend a coaching course before her 14th birthday which is in May. She has booked a course in the summer.  She has been a gymnast with Aspire and as a Young Leader already attended judging courses, conferences and helped at Regional events.  She is valuable member of the club.

Grades

BG NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN Sunday 1st March,2015 All six gymnasts we took to do grade 6 passed.  Two gymnasts were "in age" that is, as young as they are allowed to be, to enter. The Club has never entered gymnasts "in age" before. Considering how little time they have for training each week that is a huge achievement.  Two gymnasts gained Commended, that's a first for the club as well. However the most impressive thing was that the 3 gymnasts who had entered Grade 5 but narrowly missed getting a pass mark, did not seek the comfort of their families in their severe disappointment but bravely choose to attended the Celebration Ceremony to support the club members who did pass.  I cannot think of words to describe these magnificent girls and Aspire is extremely lucky to have them as club members. They are a credit to their families and make Aspire the friendly club that it is. Thank you.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Kirsty our newest qualified coach. She had passed the British Gymnastics Core Proficiency Award. She will be putting everything she learnt into use immediately, as this is the term all the gymnasts try to gain BG badges. Along with Jessa Bane, Kirsty also attended an introductory course on judging Floor & Vault. Every club needs judges as without them we cannot enter gymnasts for competitions. So well done and a big thank you from the club for giving your time to attend the course.   Jessa only joined the Teen Gym class in January and has immediately attended this course and has shown an interest in others. She has asked about helping to coach as well. Aspire is so pleased to have her in the club.
